Japanese microelectronics manufacturer NEC is said to be working on a fuel cell powered mobile phone. While details haven’t been released yet, the phones appear to have a touch panel on one side and derive their color from the fuel inside the phone (which is most likely ethanol).

There appears to be a valve to refuel the phones as the cell is diminished, making it possible to change the colour of the phone with each refuel. NEC expects the phones to ship later this year.
